Induction hobs are made from smooth, ceramic glass. An induction coil underneath the hob creates a magnetic field, when an induction friendly pan is placed on the hob powerful vortexes are created in the pan base that cause the pan to rapidly heat up.
Induction friendly pans must have a magnetic base, meaning it must contain a ferrous metal such as steel, enamelled steel or cast iron. Aluminium, cooper and glass cannot be magnetised and are therefore not suitable unless the base is bonded with a magnetic metal. All the pans on this page are suitable for Induction hobs.
