Stress Free Sunday

Kicking off the AGA Cookshop blog is AGA Cookshop Commercial Manager Caroline Smith with her guide to a stress free AGA Sunday.

I love spending family time together, but weekends seem to fly by so quickly.

Sunday lunch is my perfect go- to dinner for a delicious meal that also gives me time to spend doing other things I love. After all – that really is one of the many wonders of owning an AGA.

This Sunday I chose a family favourite – Roast Pork.

I chose a ‘bone in’ pork loin and asked the butcher to loosen the bones for easy carving.

I also asked him to remove and score the skin so i could crisp up the crackling separately.

For the pud – perfectly easy crumble.

Once i had roasted the Pork for 45 mins in the roasting oven and popped it in to the simmering oven, my morning was free to take a walk with my lively and mischievous Jack Russel, taking in the beautiful views of the gorgeous Shropshire Hills.

Back home, I lay a simple table of cutlery and wine glasses and get the veg ready.

I scattered a simple crumble mixture over summer fruits ready to place in the baking oven.

Having the right cookware means everything fits on the runners for the roast. For the crumble, I use the fabulous Portmeriron ceramic oven to tableware, and my vegetables are cooked to perfection using the AGA stainless steel pans which stack neatly in the simmering oven.

A quick crisping up of the crackling and making a smooth and rich gravy, I was ready before my hungry family arrived.

I have to admit that having the right textiles to protect me and my AGA has always been important, and everyone loved the new apron and gauntlets from the new utility range ( note to self for idea for mother in law’s Christmas present )

And Angus waits patiently, for a little Sunday Roast dinner for himself – his regular Sunday treat. How could I resist those big brown eyes.
