The Batch Cooking Staple - AGA Cast-Iron Casseroles

I use my large 26cm AGA Cast-Iron Casserole as my daily ‘cauldron’ for rustling up big batches of Bolognese, casseroles, curries and soups to eat and freeze for later; a great way to save time, money and reduce food waste over the autumn and winter months. The smaller 16cm casserole is fabulous for dishes serving two people, such as wonderful slow-cooked lamb shank with herby Italian tomatoes, made overnight in the simmering oven.

Along with the warming one pot staples, the casserole dish has a myriad of other uses. I find the 26cm casserole really handy for baking bread (the pan retains heat beautifully and acts like a mini-AGA for a delicious crust and soft centre) or cooking a whole chicken with vegetables and orzo. The smaller 16cm casserole is great for deep-filled meat and game pies and the shallow 30cm casserole for perfect for keeping roasted vegetable salads cool for outdoor summer lunches.

The casserole dish is suitable for use in the AGA ovens, on the AGA hotplates, on induction hobs and in conventional ovens. Available in three sizes, the durable and beautiful oven-to-table casserole dishes are available in classic white, matt black or the lovely Olivine green colourway to match the popular AGA cooker colour launched in 2021.
