Na’s Necessities

AGA specialist, foodie and recipe writer Na Hansell shares her tried and trusted AGA Cookshop favourites in a new series of blogs…

My Christmas Cookware Essentials

I love all things all things about Christmas food…from comforting family classics passed through the generations and new exciting recipes which bring friends and families together. Here are four of my essential cookware items which will prove invaluable on Christmas Day and beyond:

Bake-O-GlideTM

Bake-O-GlideTM is your washing up saviour. The clever range of reusable non-stick liners makes cooking and baking easy. Use instead of foil or baking parchment when roasting meat and vegetables and enjoy more time with loved ones rather than the dreaded job of scrubbing your tins!

AGA Hard Anodised Roasting Tins

If ever there was a job to have the right cookware for, it’s the roast potatoes! The clever hardwearing hard anodised finish on the AGA Hard Anodised Roasting Tin conducts heat from the AGA ovens brilliantly, producing the most crispy, moreish roast potatoes. Available in half and full sizes; the half size is perfect for six people and the full sized tin for cooking for a crowd.

Portmeirion for AGA Roaster with Pouring Lip

My go-to for showing off the centrepiece Christmas ham, turkey goose and beef, roasting vegetables and making the most delicious gravy - use the handy pouring lip for transferring to your gravy boat.

It also make a fabulous lasagne dish, which can be frozen in the dish and cooked straight from the freezer. This brilliant piece of cookware can be used on the runners in AGA ovens, on the simmering plate and taken straight to the table for serving.  It’s also super easy to clean in the dishwasher.

Portmeirion for AGA Roasting Dish

Versatile, freezer-safe and stylish, I use mine to get ahead on my Christmas vegetables. On Christmas Eve, blanch the vegetables on the boiling plate until only just cooked, place in cold water (to stop any further cooking) before arranging in the AGA roasting dish. Take a piece of foil and butter one side, place the buttered side down on the vegetables, cover with cling film and chill in the fridge for 24 hours.

To reheat, remove the covering and leave the foil in place. Place on the floor of the AGA roasting oven (using the floor grid) for 20 minutes until piping hot. Remove the foil covering and enjoy!
