Na’s Necessities

AGA demonstrator, foodie and recipe writer Na Hansell shares her tried and trusted AGA Cookshop favourites in the first of our series of blogs…

Durable, non-stick and super useful, anyone who owns the AGA Stainless Steel Sauce pot knows what a kitchen essential it is. I use mine for making soup, hot chocolate, gravy, chicken stock and the weekend favourite of fluffy scrambled eggs – I love to add smoked salmon and fresh chives for a decadent treat.

It’s also ideal for boiling and steaming vegetables to lock in the flavour and goodness. I like to stand up asparagus spears and long-stemmed broccoli in the sauce pot for rapid boiling, before adding the lid moving to the simmering plate to steam for a few minutes.

The sauce pot is also perfect for porridge. For a delicious breakfast ready for when you wake up, simply add water and pinhead oats to the sauce pot, bring to the boil on the boiling plate, whisk and move to the simmering plate for a couple of minutes. Pop on the lid and place on the floor of the simmering oven (with floor grid) and leave overnight. In the morning, add a splash of cream and top with fresh fruit, conserve or toasted nuts and seeds.

The versatile sauce pot can be used on the hotplates or induction hob, has an oven-proof handle, can be popped into the dishwasher and comes with a 2 year guarantee. Available in two sizes, they can stack on top of each other in the AGA ovens and fit inside each other to make for easy storage.
